The Rain Room
An Eighth Doctor Drabble
The Doctor sat in the armchair in front of the fire, the rain running down the outside of the picture window. The flames crackled and spat, the remorseless downpour made him shiver. He sighed; he was alone. His companions were along for the ride, they did not trust him, rely on him anymore. He heard a soft padding sound beside him. Wolsey leapt onto his lap, curled up, and started to purr. The Doctor stroked the large cat, shut his eyes, felt the warmth of the flames, and heard the soothing sound of rain falling outside. He was not alone.
