All Geek to Me

I am sure that you think that you get a lot of spam. All email users are afflicted by this curse. However, I was amazed to find that the company for which I work received less than 280,000 valid messages in the 4.3m emails received in July; that is over 15 spam messages for each real one.

  1. Is that possible? Is it true? Or could that be the explanation for some of the legitimate emails addressed to the management team which only about half of said team actually receive?

  2. 280,000 valid emails? Pull the other one, 270,000 jokes, dubious photographs, read receipts and sundry time-wasting exercises. 10,000 valid emails.

  3. Apparently spam is running at 2.8 BILLION emails per day, which is up from 2.6 billion before the recent arrest of a “spam baron”. Allegedly there are only about 130 individuals world-wide responsible for the spam tsunami, which begs the question “why aren’t they all in prison?”
